For those whose vocabulary and grammar are very good but who need to gain more confidence when communicating in Spanish.

Elementary 1-2

For those people who have a basic grasp of the language. For those who can talk about things in the present and describe places, people, general feelings and situations.

• To practice patterns of grammatical structures both orally and in written exercises and to develop their listening/speaking skills in Spanish.
• To learn how to describe and to practice the description of past events (chronological events, past routines and habits) and also with future events accurately.
• To reinforce and expand the vocabulary base, to take students beyond the basic survival skills acquired in introductory classes and to set the stage for a more fluent and confident use of the language.
• To practice various ways of giving instructions such us "se debe, hay que", and the basic imperative forms.

Upper elementary 1-2

For those who can talk about general situations in the present, the past and the future.

• Provide the student with the necessary grammar and vocabulary so that he/she can describe aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
• Simple tenses are reviewed, new forms of present, past and future are introduced and prepositions and connectors are learnt to make the learner's speech more fluent.
• To describe past events by mixing various past tenses.
• To express basic hopes, suggestions and opinions by using basic forms of the Present Subjunctive and all forms of the imperative mode.

For those whose vocabulary and grammar are very good but who need to gain more confidence when communicating in Spanish.

Pre-intermediate 1-2

For those who can use different forms of past and present, whose speech is cohesive and those who are familiar with a fair amount of colloquial expressions in Spanish.

• To provide the students with the basis of more complex grammatical structures so that he/she can describe experiences, events, processes, things said by other people, orders, suggestions, opinions, dreams and plans.
• All past tenses are revised. Hopes, suggestions, dreams, doubts, etc., are discussed to make sure the students internalise the use of the present subjunctive.
• More complex subjects (such as indigenous groups around the world) are discussed in order to introduce more complex grammar topics such us the passive voice and the use of se, lo, le, etc.

Intermediate 1-2

For those who are confident with all the basics outlined in the previous levels and are looking to improve their grammar and increase their fluency.

• To further develop skills already learnt, as well as to introduce grammatical concepts of a more complex nature such as other tenses of el subjuntivo and all the different uses of los pronombres de doble objeto. As a result, the language learner will be able to interact with a high degree of fluency and spontaneity, explain his/her opinions and give reasons in support of or against a particular topic.
• To strengthen students' communicative competency by providing ongoing opportunities for oral practice in realistic contexts so that a clearer distinction between formal and colloquial language is established.

Essential Conversation 3

For those whose vocabulary and grammar are very good but who need to gain more confidence when communicating in Spanish.

• To strengthen the students' communicative ability by using vocabulary & grammar already learnt and by focusing 100% of the time on "speaking".

Upper intermediate 1-2

For those with a high command of the language, but who still need to incorporate very complex grammar patterns to their speech to make it more native-like.

• To provide the learner with very complex grammar and relevant vocabulary that varies in different Spanish speaking countries. This is to make sure that he/she can use the language flexibly and effectively for social and academic purposes and that he/she can create clear, well structured, detailed texts on a variety of subjects.
• Attention is given to the smallest details, in order to place the student a step closer to the native speakers.

ADVANCED / PROFICIENCY & DELE COURSES

For those students who are familiar with all grammar structures and whose main objective is to make their Spanish "native-like".

• • All tenses are revised. Patterns are learnt to avoid those mistakes that separate this learners from the native speakers. All class activities are planned so that the students can 1) take part effortlessly in any conversation or discussion and gathers a good familiarity with idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms, 2) can express themselves fluently and convey finer shades of meaning precisely and 3) can backtrack and restructure around any difficulty they might have, so smoothly that other people are hardly aware of it.
